Recipe for Sugar Cookies of Love

We all know that Grace loves to bake, well, did you know that Addy does too? In Addy's Lunch Pail (produced by American Girl) she has four sugar cookies that spell out the word love! Here is the recipe!

Prep Time: 15 Minutes

Preheat: 375 degrees

Cook: 10 Minutes

Yield: 4 Dozen (12 words)

  

Ingredients:

·      2 ¾ cups of all purpose flour

·      1 teaspoon of baking soda

·      ½ teaspoon of baking powder

·      1 cup butter, softened

·      1 ½ cups of white sugar

·      1 egg

·      1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Directions:

1.   Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

2.   In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.

3.   Shape dough into letters to form out the word “LOVE”. You should be able to form about twelve of these words with your dough.

4.   Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet 2 minutes before removing to cool on wax paper or wire racks.
