American Girl Doll Hearing Aids vs. MyTwinn Doll Hearing Aids

In 2010, I purchased the MyTwinn Doll Hearing Aids off of their website. Although I do not own a MyTwinn doll currently, I thought it would be a nice accessory for my dolls.

In 2012, American Girl came out with their version of doll hearing aids. Of course I had to buy those too! The American Girl Brand hearing aids can be fitted in American Girl Stores that have a Doll Hair Salon or through the American Girl Doll Hospital.

The MyTwinn hearing aids retail for $9 for one or $18 for a set of two. American Girl's doll hearing aids retail for $14 for one or two.

As you can see from the photos above, the MyTwinn doll hearing aids look a little bit more realistic. The case (outer part; behind the ear) is a peach color and the tubing is clear. I don't like, however, that the ear mold (inside the ear) is also clear. Most young children with hearing aids color their ear molds, so it would be only appropriate that the doll version would too. The MyTwinn doll hearing aids do not require any behind the ear piercing and are simply put on.

The American Girl Brand hearing aids have a pink outer case and white bendable tubing. The ear mold is pink. The AG Brand doll hearing aids also require a permanent piercing behind the doll's ear (similar to the piercing done when your doll gets her ears pierced).

On the dolls, the American Girl ones are definitely cuter! The MyTwinn ones don't stay on very well and kind of blend into their skin (perfect for a self-conscious doll who likes to hide her imperfections)! The American Girl hearing aids are secured with a little pink post that is pierced into the doll. The MyTwinn ones are not secured, so they fall off easier.

When I purchased the MyTwinn doll hearing aids in 2010, I didn't consider the height difference between MyTwinn Dolls (22 inches) and American Girl Dolls (18 inches). The MyTwinn hearing aids fall off of AGs all the time! I'm not sure how well they fit on MyTwinn Dolls.

The American Girl hearing aids are on my My American Girl #53, Cassidy Cambrie 24/7, whereas I use the MyTwinn hearing aids for display.

MY RATES:
